Indications Differin is indicated in the treatment of topical acne vulgaris. How It Works Adapalene is a retinoid. It is similar to vitamin A in terms of how it binds to retinoid receptors. It works by exfoliating skin and acting as a topical anti-inflamatory. Dosage Available gel formulations: 0.1% 15g, 0.1% 10g Available cream formulations: 0.1% 15g Wash the affected areas and apply Differin once a day, ideally shortly before bedtime. A thin film is usually enough. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not apply to the inside of the lips, nose or mouth. To avoid contaminating the container do not touch the tip while withdrawing medicine. During the early weeks of use, the acne may appear to worsen. This is due to the medicine working on unseen pimples and is expected to occur. Results should be obvious after 8-12 weeks. Adapalene should not be applied to cuts, scrapes, sunburned or eczema-affected skin. Particular caution is advised when you have used products containing sulfur, resorcinol or salicylic acid. Wait until the effects of such products on the skin have decreased before using adapalene.
