Indications Revia is used to treat alcoholism and alcohol dependence as well as addictions to opioids. How It Works Revia is an opiod antagonist. Revia binds to opioid receptors and thereby blocks the effects of opiates; however, the mode of action in treating alcoholism is unknown. Dosage Tablets (50 mg) The recommended initial dose of Revia is 50 mg or 1 tablet daily to treat alcoholism. Opioid addiction: 25 mgs initially, then 50 mg or 1 tablet a day if no signs of withdrawal manifest. Precautions Revia is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Revia, or if they have not been opioid free for more than 7-10 days. Speak to a doctor if you have the following conditions: kidney problems, hepatitis or other liver diseases. This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby.
