Non-Active Ingredients: hypromellose, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, polysorbate 80 and synthetic red iron oxide.
 
Indications
Linezolid is mainly used to treat bacterial infections such as pneumonia, and skin infections. Zyvox is also used to treat infections that are resistant to other antibiotics such as MRSA.
 
How It Works
linezolid is an antibiotic part of the class of antibiotics oxazolidinones linezolid is active against most Gram-positive bacteria that cause infection, including streptococci, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
 
Dosage
Tablets (100mg, 600mg)
Capsules (600mg)
The usual dose of Zyvox is either 400mg or 600mg tablets or capsules administered orally every 12 hours, as indicated by infection:
 
For uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections take two 400mg tablets per day for 10-14 days.
 
For Nosocomial pneumonia, and complicated skin and skin structure infections take two 600mg tablets per day for 10-14 days.
 
For Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections, including concurrent bacteremia or Acute Bacterial Sinusitis infections, take two  600mg tablets per day for 14 - 28 days.
 
For other types of infection, consult with your doctor as to your dosage regime.
 
Precautions
Zyvox is contraindicated if you are allergic to Zyvox or other similar antibiotics. Consult a doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have untreated high blood pressure, tumors (a carcinoid tumor or adrenal gland tumor), or a severely overactive thyroid. Before using linezolid, tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, a seizure disorder, kidney or liver disease, bone marrow suppression, or a weak immune system. If you have kidney or liver disease then you may not be able to take Zyvox or you may require a reduced or tailored dosage regimen. 
 
Zyvox may cause drowsiness and cloud your thoughts and slow reaction speed. Make sure that you do not experience an adverse reaction such as this if you are driving, or need to be awake and alert to perform dangerous physical tasks.
 
This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby. Consult your doctor before taking Zyvox, if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Zyvox may pass into breast milk and may causes harm to a nursing baby. Talk to your doctor before using this medication if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby.
 
Drug Interactions
Consult a doctor before taking Zyvox, if you have been taking MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine within the past 14 days. Life-threatening, serious side effects can occur if you use Zyvox before the MAO inhibitor has left your body. Consult a doctor if you are taking buspirone, meperidine, a diet pill or other stimulant, a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine, ADHD medication such as Adderall or Dexedrine, migraine or cluster headache medications, triptans such as Imitrex or Zomig and others, medication to treat Parkinson's disease or restless leg syndrome, or antidepressant such as Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, and others. If you are taking any of these medications you may not be able to take Zyvox or you may need a reduced dosage.
 
Before using Zyvox, tell your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription and nonprescription medications, including herbal products, minerals and vitamins you may be taking. Other medications may affect how Zyvox works or may cause other unforeseen complications.

Adverse/Side Effects
Zyvox may causes the following minor side effects: nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, muscle pain, constipation, unpleasant taste or smell in the mouth, feeling restless, anxious, depression, sleep problems (insomnia or nightmares), vaginal itching or discharge or a yeast infection. If these side effects persist or become bothersome talk to your doctor.
 
If you are experiencing any of the following severe side effects you should contact your doctor immediately. Zyvox has been known to cause fatigue, dizziness and drowsiness. Until you know how it affects you, be careful while driving or operating heavy machinery.
 
In very rare cases people have developed lactic acidosis, a life-threatening condition, while taking linezolid. Early signs of lactic acidosis are: muscle pain or weakness, numb or cold feeling in your arms and legs, slow or uneven heart rate, dizziness, trouble breathing, stomach pain, nausea with vomiting, or feeling very weak or tired.
 
If you notice any other side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. If these side effects persist or become overly bothersome contact your doctor or health-care professional.
 
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. This may not be a complete list of side effects and may be subject to change, consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you are experiencing any worrisome side effects.
 
Overdose
If you suspect overdose, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and light, and out of reach of children and pets.
