Ingredients
Active Ingredients: Esitalopram

Non-Active Ingredients:  talc, croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose/colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate. The coating contains hypromellose, titanium dioxide, and polyethylene glycol.

Indications
Escitalopram (Lexapro) is used to treat depression, particularly major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults and adolescents as young as 12 years old and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults.

How It Works
Escitalopram is in a class of antidepressants (mood elevators) called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.

Dosage
Tablets (5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg)
Escitalopram comes as a tablet to be taken orally. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. The initial dose of Escitalopram is 5 mg or 10 mg, your doctor may increase your dose after 1 week.

To help you remember to take Escitalopram, take it around the same time every day, in the morning or in the evening. Take Escitalopram exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or alter the frequency unless prescribed by your doctor. It may take 1-4 weeks or longer before you feel the full benefit of Escitalopram. Continue to take Escitalopram even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Escitalopram without talking to your doctor, especially if you have taken large doses for a long time. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.

Your doctor will need to check you at regular visits for at least the first 12 weeks of treatment.
