Grifulvin, griseofulvinChemical NameGriseofulvin Ingredients Active Ingredients: Griseofulvin Non-Active Ingredients: calcium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, starch, and wheat gluten. Indications Grisovin is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails that do not respond to creams/lotions. Clearing such infections will get rid of symptoms such as itching, red/peeling/scaly skin, and discolored nails. This medication works by stopping these fungi: Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp), Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), Tinea pedis (athlete's foot), Tinea unguium (onychomycosis; ringworm of the nails), Tinea cruris (ringworm of the thigh), and Tinea barbae (barber's itch). Grisovin can be used against the following fungi: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton tonsurans, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton interdigitalis, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton sulphureum, Trichophyton schoenleini, Microsporum audouini, Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum, Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton megnini, Trichophyton gallinae, Trichophyton crateriform How It Works Grisovin binds to tubulin, interfering with microtubule function, thus inhibiting mitosis.
