Indications Compazine is used to treat psychosis, schizophrenia and anxiety. How It Works Compazine blocks dopamine receptors and has a semi-paralytic effect on the central nervous system. Dosage Tablets (5 mg) The recommended initial dose of Compazine is dependent upon the condition being treated with this medication. A doctor should prescribe this medication and patients should be closely monitored to ensure the most effective levels of treatment. Treatment is most effective when combined with some sort of mental therapy. Precautions Compazine is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Compazine Tardive dyskenesia, a condition in which involuntary tics and movements are experienced, can develop in patients who are being treated with antipsychotic medication of any kind.
