Risperdal, risperidoneChemical NameRisperidone Ingredients Active Ingredients: risperidone Non-Active Ingredients: Tablets: amberlite resin, gelatin, mannitol, glycine, simethicone, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, aspartame, red ferric oxide, and peppermint oil. In addition, the 2 mg, 3 mg, and 4 mg RISPERDAL® M-TAB® Orally Disintegrating Tablets contain xanthan gum. Injections: polysorbate 20, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, citric acid anhydrous, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, and water Indications Risperdal is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, bipolar mania and irritability associated with autism. How It Works The type of drug this is an antipsychotic. It works by altering the way chemical interact in the brain, but the exact mechanism of action for the drug is unknown. Dosage Tablets (0.5mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg, 4 mg) Injections (25 mg/ 2ml) The recommended initial dose varies according to the condition being treated: Schizophrenia: initially 2 mg per day, elevated in increments of 1-2 mg per day with the most common target dosage of 4- 8 mg/day.
