How It Works Spiriva is an anticholinergic that works to reduce narrowing of breathing passages in the lungs. By interacting with muscarinic receptors present in the air passages, it is able to enlarge and dilate those passages. Known as bronchialdilation, this reaction takes place mostly in the smooth muscles of the lungs and makes breathing easier. Dosage Always use Spiriva 18mcg capsules with the supplied handi-haler. Use the product once daily, be sure to inhale twice per capsule. The effect of the drug is not immediate and it may take several days to realize any benefits. After inhaling the drug rinse the mouth and lips to prevent dryness and irritation. Inhale your daily dose at the same time each to to ensure constant delivery of the drug to your body. Precautions Spiriva is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Spiriva.
