How It Works Ethinyl estradiol is a form of oral birth control, it is essentially a hormone treatment. Lynoral works on female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). This medication also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus hence harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. Dosage Tablets The recommended initial dose of Lynoral is one pill a day starting on the 1st day of your cycle or on the first Sunday after your period begins. Follow your doctor's instructions. Adverse/Side Effects It is common that Lynoral causes the following minor side effects: mild nausea, vomiting, bloating, stomach cramps, breast pain, tenderness, or swelling, decreased sex drive, or nervousness, freckles or darkening of facial skin, increased hair growth, or problems with contact lenses. Lynoral may also cause the following less common but more severe side effects: loss of scalp hair, changes in weight or appetite, vaginal itching or discharge, changes in your menstrual periods, dizziness, or the feeling of being tired. If these side effects persist or become overly bothersome contact your doctor or health-care professional.
