How It Works This drug is an antispasmodic. Ditropan works by relaxing the bladder’s smooth muscle reducing the effects of involuntary contraction of the bladder and the associated urge to void the bladder. Dosage Tablets (2.5 mg 5 mg) Adults are usually directed to take a 5-mg tablet two to three times a day. In elderly patients the initial dosage is sometimes reduced to 2.5 mg two to three times daily. It is not recommended to take more than for 5 mg tablets at day. Precautions Ditropan is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Ditropan. Speak to a doctor if you have the following conditions: blockages in your digestive tract, uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, or the inability to urinate, liver or kidney disease, enlarged prostate, ulcerative colitis, muscle disorders or stomach disorders. Other medications may affect how Ditropan works or may cause other unforeseen complications.
