Indications Accupril is used to treat high blood pressure. How It Works Accupril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. It is a prodrug that converts to quinaprilat in the liver. Dosage Tablets (5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg) Accupril is generally prescribed at 20-40 mg per day, once a day. Dosages can be prescribed to as high as 80 mg per day, to be taken once a day, or in divided doses. Precautions Accupril is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Accupril. Some patients taking this medication may experience a change in renal function, especially in those who are at risk of severe heart failure. This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby. Before taking Accupril, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Accupril may pass into breast milk and may cause harm to a nursing baby.
