Indications
Adalat is indicated in the treatment of angina, coronary artery spasm, high blood pressure (hypertension), arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, and Raynaud's phenomenon.
 
 
How It Works
Adalat is a calcium channel blocker that reduces the force of contraction of the heart muscles. This lowers and regulates heart rate, reducing the risk of exacerbating delicate cardiovascular situations.
 
Dosage
Available tablets:
5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg (regular)
10 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg (sustained release [XL])

Adverse/Side Effects
Minor side effects: constipation, diarrhea, dizziness or lightheadedness, flushing or a feeling of warmth, headache, nausea, weakness and fatigue.
 
Severe side effects: difficulty breathing, coughing, wheezing, bleeding or tender or swollen gums, chest pain, visual disturbances, fainting, raised or pounding heartbeat, painful and swollen joints, skin rash, or swollen ankles.
 
Consult a doctor if minor side effects become bothersome, or if any severe side effects are experienced.
 
Overdose
Symptoms of Adalat overdose may include rapid, slow, or irregular heartbeat; dizziness; fainting; and loss of consciousness. Contact a doctor, emergency room or poison control centre immediately if you experience overdose symptoms.

Store Adalat at room temperature, away from moisture, heat and light, and out of reach of pets and children.
