Ingredients
Active Ingredients:  Hydralazine

Non-Active Ingredients: Acacia, D&C Yellow No. 10 (10-mg tablets), FD&C Blue No. 1 (25-mg and 50-mg tablets), FD&C Yellow No. 5 and FD&C Yellow No. 6 (100-mg tablets), lactose, magnesium stearate, mannitol, polyethylene glycol, sodium starch glycolate, starch, and stearic acid.

Indications
Apresoline are used to treat hypertension, also known as high blood pressure.

How It Works
Apresoline  interferes with the action of the second messenger IP3. This will  cause a limit of calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, the devise that synthesize lipids and steroids, metabolize carbohydrates, drug detoxification,  and regulates calcium concentration of smooth muscle. The result of this limitation in the arterial and the terminal branches of the artery to relax.

Dosage
Tablets (25mg)
The recommended initial dose of Apresoline to start with 10 mg four times daily for the first 2-4 days, followed by an increase to 25 mg four times daily for the remainder of the first week. For the second and subsequent weeks, increase dosage to 50 mg four times daily.

Maintenance
For maintenance, adjust dosage to the lowest effective levels.

Drug Interactions
Consult a doctor before taking Apresoline, if you are taking: Diazoxide, MAO inhibitors, Procarbazine, Moclobemide, Rasagiline, Phenelzine, Selegiline, Linezolid, Tranylcypromine, Socarboxazid .

Before using this Apresoline, tell your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription and nonprescription medications including: herbal products, minerals and vitamins you may be taking. Other medications may affect how Apresoline, works or may cause other unforeseen complications.


Adverse/Side Effects
It is common that Apresoline, causes the following minor side effects: Headache, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, palpitations, tachycardia, angina pectoris. If these side effects persist or become overly bothersome contact your doctor or health-care professional.


Infrequent side effects: Intestinal obstruction, constipation, hypotension, paradoxical presser response, accumulation of fluid beneath the skin known as dropsy, shortness of breath, numbness, and tingling, dizziness: tremors; muscle cramps; psychotic reactions characterized by depression, disorientation, or anxiety. pain form the nerves that carry information to the brain, difficulty urinating, disease of the bone marrow, spleen and/or the liver hemaglobin  reduction, low red blood cell count, lower white blood cell count, severe lower white cell count, red or purple discoloration on the skin, lymph node disease  enlargement of spleen, rash, hives, itchiness, fever, chills, joint pain, nasal congestion, flushing, eye inflammation also known as "pink eye", uncontrollable tear shedding.
