Indications Hytrin is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, a condition that causes swelling of the prostate, but is not cancerous. How It Works Hytrin is an alpha 1 antagonist. It reduces the effects of adrenaline on smooth muscle, reducing the swelling in the prostate and relieving pressure on the bladder, making urination less difficult. Dosage Tablets (1 mg, 2 mg, 5 mg) The recommended initial dose of Hytrin is one 1 mg tablet to be taken at bedtime. A doctor will best prescribe the correct dosage for patients dependent upon the severity of the condition. Precautions Hytrin is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Hytrin.
