Indications Inderal is used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, atrial fibrillation, and myocardial infarction. How It Works Inderal is the first successful beta blocker to be developed for the treatment of hypertension. Dosage Tablets (10 mg, 40 mg, 80 mg, 160 mg) The recommended initial dose of Inderal is dependent upon the condition being treated. For hypertension, 40 mg to be taken twice a day is generally prescribed initially. Dosages of up to 640 mg are sometimes prescribed. For angina pectoris, doctors usually prescribe from 80 to 320 mg of Inderal, from twice to four times daily. Atrial fibrillation requires a smaller dosage of 10 to 30 mg a day. For all other conditions, speak to a physician before taking Inderal. Precautions Inderal is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Inderal. This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby. Before taking Inderal, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
