Indications Isoptin is used to treat angina and arrhythmia. How It Works Isoptin's is a ion flux inhibitor, its effects are show by its prevention of calcium from depositing on smooth tissue. This manifests its self in the drug's tendency to dilate the coronary arteries. It also reduces spasm of the coronary arteries. This dilation of the arteries also decreases the overall peripheral resistance against which the heart works, decreasing damage done to the heart.
