Indications Trental is used to treat intermittent claudication, a condition that causes pain and numbness in the extremities, due to a narrowing of the arteries that allow blood to flow to the limbs. How It Works Trental is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, which reduces inflammation of arteries in the limbs. It also improves red blood cell reduction. Dosage Tablets (2 mg, 4 mg, 8 mg) Trental is generally administered three times per day, to be taken with meals at 400 mg doses. Treatment cycles should last at least eight weeks for the effects to take hold. Some treatments are administered for a period of six months. Precautions Trental is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Trental, or have cerebral and/or retinal hemorrhage. This medicine will cause harm to an unborn baby.
