Indications Diovan HCT is used to treat hypertension and high blood pressure. How It Works Diovan HCT contains an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, often referred to as an ARB, as well as a diuretic that prevents the kidneys from retaining water, thereby more effectively removing salt from the body. Dosage Tablets (80 mg 12.5 mg, 160 mg 12.5 mg) Suggested dosage is 80 mg per day for most treatments. Precautions Diovan HCT is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Diovan HCT. Do not take if you are pregnant or if you are trying to become pregnant. If these side effects persist or become overly bothersome, contact your doctor or health-care professional. Infrequent side effects may include dyspepsia, tinnitus, and palpitations. Rare side effects may also include anxiety, hyperglycemia, and renal failure. If any of these side effects become bothersome seek medical attention immediately. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
