Zestoretic, lisinopril HCTZChemical NamessLisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide Ingredients Active ingredients: lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide Inactive ingredients: calcium phosphate, magnesium stearate, mannitol, red ferric oxide, starch, yellow ferric oxide. Indications Zestoretic is indicated in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, heart attacks (myocardial infarction), and renal and retinal complications of diabetes. How It Works Lisinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Angiotensin is a chemical that narrows blood vessels and thereby elevates blood pressure. When angiotensin is blocked by lisinopril, it cannot be converted into its active form – thus the blood vessels dilate and blood pressure falls. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that acts by inhibiting the kidneys' ability to retain water. This reduces the volume of the blood, decreasing blood return to the heart and thus cardiac output and, by other mechanisms, is believed to lower peripheral vascular resistance. Dosage Available tablet sizes: 5 mg lisinopril + 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide 10 mg lisinopril + 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide 20 mg lisinopril + 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide Zestoretic should be taken at doses specified by your physician.
