Indications Ziac is indicated in the treatment and management of high blood pressure (hypertension). How It Works Ziac combines bisoprolol, a beta-blocker, with hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic. Beta-blockers inhibit the excitatory action of adrenaline, epinephrine and norepinephrine on the heart, thereby reducing its contractive force, which lowers blood pressure. Diuretics encourage the removal of water from the bloodstream, which reduces blood volume and thus blood pressure. Dosage Available tablet sizes (bisoprolol/hydrochlorothiazide): 2.5mg/6.25mg, 5mg/6.25mg Bisoprolol is effective in treating hypertension in single daily doses from 2.5 mg to 40 mg, while hydrochlorothiazide’s effective range in single daily doses is from 12.5 mg to 50 mg.
