Indications Starlix is used to treat Type 2 Diabetes mellitus in adults. Starlix is a remedy for managing glycemic control in combination with a healthy diet and proper exercise. How It Works Starlix lowers blood glucose levels. It works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas by inhibiting ATP-dependent potassium channels. This results in a calcium influx, which delivers insulin where needed. Dosage Tablets (EU 60 mg, EU 120 mg, 60 mg, 120 mg) The recommended initial dose of Starlix is 120 mg, to be taken before meals three times per day. If used in combination with other medications, the 60 mg dosage is prescribed, and should be taken in the same manner as the 120 mg Starlix unit.
