Ingredients
Active Ingredients: Clopidogrel Bisulfate
Non-Active Ingredients: hydrogenated castor oil, hydroxypropylcellulose, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol 6000, ferric oxide, hypromellose 2910, lactose monohydrate, titanium dioxide and triacetin and  carnauba wax.

Indications
Plavix is a blood thinner and antiplatelet medication, it is indicated in the treatment of blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke, and in people with certain disorders of the heart or blood vessels. Plavix is used to treat coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, cerebrovascular disease & thrombosis.

How It Works
Plavix (clopidogrel) keeps blood platelets from coagulating (clotting) which helps prevent unwanted blood clots that can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions.

Dosage
Available in 75 mg tablets or 75 mg tablets with aspirin added (75 mg or 150 mg).
The initial dosage for Plavix is 1 pill per day. It is recommended that patients taking Plavix also take aspirin to aid reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Precautions
Consult a doctor before taking Plavix if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, Plavix is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment tell your doctor. It is not known whether Clopidogrel passes into breast milk and whether or not it can harm a nursing baby.
 
Do not use Plavix if you are allergic to Clopidogrel, or if you have any active bleeding such as bleeding in the brain (head injury) or a stomach ulcer.
If you suffer from any of the following diseases consult a doctor before beginning Plavix treatment: a bleeding or blood clotting disorder, such as TTP (thrombocytopenic purpura) or hemophilia, a history of stroke, a stomach ulcer or ulcerative colitis, or kidney disease.
 
While taking Plavix, consult your doctor about taking or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) without your doctor's advice. NSAIDs include ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), diclofenac (Cataflam, Voltaren), etodolac (Lodine), indomethacin (Indocin), meloxicam (Mobic), nabumetone (Relafen), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others.
Avoid activities that increase the risk of bruising or bleeding. Be careful to avoid getting cut in general, even when doing ordinary things like brushing your teeth and shaving.Avoid alcohol as it may increase the risk of stomach or intestinal bleeding.
 
 
Drug Interactions
Consult a doctor before taking Plavix if you are taking any other blood thinners or antactids, also make sure your doctor is aware of you taking any of the following drugs:Phenytoin (Dilantin), tamoxifen (Nolvadex), tolbutamide (Orinase), torsemide (Demadex), fluvastatin (Lescol), a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin (Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep), other medication used to prevent blood clots, such as alteplase (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase).
Cancer medications such as dasatinib (Sprycel), letrozole (Femara), ibritumomab (Zevalin), or tositumomab (Bexxar).
Certain stomach acid reducers, such as cimetidine (Tagamet), esomeprazole (Nexium), dexlansoprazole (Kapidex), lansoprazole (Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec, Prilosec OTC, Zegerid), pantoprazole (Protonix), or rabeprazole (AcipHex).
Antifungal medication: fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Extina, Ketozole, Nizoral, Xolegal), or voriconazole (Vfend).
HIV medications: delavirdine (Rescriptor), efavirenz (Sustiva, Atripla), etravirine (Intelence), or tipranavir (Aptivus).
Seizure medication: felbamate (Felbatol) or oxcarbamazepine (Trileptal)
 
This is not a complete list and there may be other drugs that interact with Plavix, consult your doctor if you are taking any other medications or pills. You should always tell you doctor about any and all medications you may be taking including over the counter medication, and herbal supplements.

Adverse/Side Effects
If you have any signs of an allergic reaction to Plavix consult a doctor immediately: hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using Plavix and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: Nosebleed or other bleeding that will not stop, bloody or tarry stools, blood in your urine, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling, sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body, sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance, pale skin, weakness, fever, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes) or easy bruising, unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum), purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin.

Less serious Plavix side effects may include itching and skin irritation.

Side effects are subject to change and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose include vomiting, feeling exhausted or short of breath, and blood in your stools or vomit. If you suspect overdose, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Storage Instructions
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and light. Do not store in the bathroom and keep out of the reach of children and pets.
