How It Works Duovir is a combination of the nucleoside analogue class of antiretroviral drugs and works by terminating the growth of DNA chain. Dosage Tablets (150mg, 300mg, 200 mg, lamivudine + zidovudine + nevirapine) Duovir-N Cipla should not be used in patients who have just started therapy with Nevirapine. An early lead-in dosing of 200mg Nevirapine once daily for two weeks is suggested. Following this lead-in dose, a dose rise (maintenance dose) to 200mg Nevirapine bd may be performed in the nonappearance of any hypersensitivity reactions such as, rash, liver function test abnormalities. Adjustment will be necessary for patients with renal dysfunction. Precautions Duovir N Cipla is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Duovir N Cipla. Fat redistribution has been observed in many patients receiving antiretroviral therapy. If you notice any major body changes, speak with doctor immediately. Myopathy and problems with muscle fibers have occurred when taking this medication. Should these symptoms become bothersome, speak with physician. Lactic acidosis and hepatomegaly with steatosis, including some seriously fatal cases have been reported with use of these drugs or in combination. Patients who have a co-infection with hepatitis have seen an exacerbation in their condition when taking this medication. The majority of these cases have been in women. Obesity and prolonged use of these drugs might be factors. Duvocir N Cipla tablets are not to be given to pediatric patients. Worsening of kidney impairment may occur when taking this medication. Serious psychological adverse reactions have occurred while taking this medication. Patients have developed resistance to the medication. Frequent monitoring is required when taking Duvocir N Cipla. Convulsions have been observed in rare cases while on this medication, immediately see a doctor if this event occurs. Duvocir N Cipla tablets are not to be given to pediatric patients. Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome , in which the immune system begins to recover, but then responds to infection with an inflammatory response which paradoxically makes symptoms worse has been experienced in people taking. Duvocir N Cipla should be discontinued if patients experience rash accompanied by constitutional findings.
