Indications Norvir is used to treat infections of HIV-1. How It Works The type of drug this is an antiviral drug. It works by inhibiting an enzyme in the liver that usually metabolizes protease inhibitors, which means there are more protease inhibitors in the blood to act against the HIV infection. The drug is typically used to boost other antiviral medications.
