Triomune, lamivudine + stavudine + nevirapineChemical NameLamivudine + Stavudine + Nevirapine Ingredients Active Ingredients: Lamivudine + Stavudine + Nevirapine Non-Active Ingredients: N/A Indications Triomune is used for the treatment of HIV infection once patients have been stabilized on the maintenance regimen of nevirapine 200 mg bd, and have demonstrated adequate tolerability to nevirapine. How It Works Stavudine and lamivudine belong to the nucleoside analogue class of antiretroviral drugs and work by terminating the growth of the DNA chain. Dosage Tablets (150mg 30mg 200m, Lamivudine + Stavudine + Nevirapine) The recommended initial dose of Triomune is one tablet twice daily for patients weighing less than 60 kg. One tablet twice daily for patients weighing over 60 kg. Triomune should not be administered to patients who have just initiated therapy with nevirapine. This is because an initial lead-in dosing of 200 mg nevirapine once daily for two weeks is recommended. Following this lead-in dose, a dose escalation (maintenance dose) to 200 mg nevirapine bd may be carried out in the absence of any hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. rash, liver function test abnormalities). Loss of bone density has occurred on this medication. Patient should frequently visit doctor while on Trioday. Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome , in which the immune system begins to recover, but then responds to infection with an inflammatory response which paradoxically makes symptoms worse has been experienced in people taking. Triomune should be discontinued if patients experience rash accompanied by constitutional findings. If patients have severe live function issues, or if finding suggest live dysfunction due to medication, medication must be immediately stopped. And a new regimen should be given by doctor hereafter. Drug Interactions Consult a doctor before taking Triomune, if you are taking: Astemizole, Bepridil, Cisapride, Midazolam, Pimozide, Triazolam or ergot derivatives because competition for CYP3A4 by Efavirenz could result in the inhibition of the metabolism of these drugs and create the potential for serious and/or life-threatening adverse events (e.g. cardiac arrhythmias, prolonged sedation, or respiratory depression). Should not be administered concurrently with voriconazole; Efavirenz significantly decreases Voriconazole plasma concentrations. Before using this Triomune, tell your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription and nonprescription medications, including herbal products, minerals and vitamins you may be taking.
