How It Works Stavudine and lamivudine belong to the nucleoside analogue class of antiretroviral drugs and work by terminating the growth of the DNA chain. Dosage Tablets (150mg 30mg 200m, Lamivudine + Stavudine + Nevirapine) The recommended initial dose of Triomune is one tablet twice daily for patients weighing less than 60 kg. One tablet twice daily for patients weighing over 60 kg. Triomune should not be administered to patients who have just initiated therapy with nevirapine. This is because an initial lead-in dosing of 200 mg nevirapine once daily for two weeks is recommended. Following this lead-in dose, a dose escalation (maintenance dose) to 200 mg nevirapine bd may be carried out in the absence of any hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. rash, liver function test abnormalities). Precautions Triomune is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Triomune, and those who are just initiating therapy with Nevirapine. Fat redistribution has been observed in patients receiving antiretroviral therapy. Myopathy, and problems with muscle fibers have occurred when taking this medication. Lactic acidosis and hepatomegaly with steatosis, including some seriously fatal cases have been reported with use of these drugs or in combination. Patients with co-infection with hepatitis have seen an exacerbation in their condition when taking this medication. A majority of these cases have been in women. Obesity and prolonged use of these drugs might be factors. Triomune tablets are not to be given to pediatric patients. Frequent blood counts are strongly recommended in patients with advanced HIV-1. Worsening kidney impairment can happen. A worsening of hepatitis may occur while taking this medication. Serious adverse psychological reactions have occurred while taking this medication. Patients have developed resistance to the medication. Frequent monitoring is required when taking Triomune Cipla. Convulsions have been observed in rare cases. Loss of bone density has occurred on this medication. Patient should frequently visit doctor while on Trioday. Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome , in which the immune system begins to recover, but then responds to infection with an inflammatory response which paradoxically makes symptoms worse has been experienced in people taking. Triomune should be discontinued if patients experience rash accompanied by constitutional findings. If patients have severe live function issues, or if finding suggest live dysfunction due to medication, medication must be immediately stopped. And a new regimen should be given by doctor hereafter. This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby. Before taking Triomune, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Should not be administered concurrently with voriconazole; Efavirenz significantly decreases Voriconazole plasma concentrations.
