Non active: calcium phosphate, castor oil, cellulose acetate phthalate, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, starch and talc.
 
Indications

Flavoxate is used to treat bladder symptoms such as frequent or urgent urination, increased night-time urination, bladder pain, and incontinence (urine leakage). These bladder symptoms are often be caused by overactive bladder, prostate enlargement, bladder infections, or irritation of the urethra.

How It Works
Flavoxate is a smooth muscle relaxant. It relaxes the muscles in the bladder. This medication will not treat the cause of your bladder symptoms such as

Dosage
Tablets (200 mg)

Urispas is taken orally. The recommended dosage is one tablet (200 mg) taken 3-4 times a day or as your doctor prescribes. This should be taken with food. The dosage is based on your individual medical condition and may be adjusted based on individual response to the drug. Your doctor may lower your dosage if there is a noticeable improvement in your symptoms. Treatment length depends on the cause of the problem and how the patient reacts to treatment.

Precautions
Urispas is contraindicated in patients allergic to flavoxate, or with untreated or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, a blockage the digestive tract (stomach or intestines), or if you are unable to urinate. If you suffer from any of these conditions you may not be able to take Urispas or you may require a reduced or tailored dosage. Before taking Urispas, tell your doctor if you have a history of glaucoma, urinary problems, kidney disease, or if you have reduced liver function. If any symptoms suggestive of liver dysfunction are observed, the drug should be discontinued immediately.

Flavoxate will not treat a bacterial or fungal bladder infection. Infections must be treated with an antibiotic.
 
Limit the amount of alcohol and other sedative type medications, which may cause drowsiness. Avoid activities that require alertness such as driving or operating heavy machinery.

This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby and has been known to cause birth defects. Before taking Flavoxate, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Flavoxate passes into breast milk and may causes harm to a nursing baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant. You should not be breast feeding on this medication.

Drug Interactions
This drug should not be used with Pramlintide because a very serious interaction may occur. Consult a doctor before taking Flavoxate, if you are taking any of the following: other bladder or urinary medications such as Darifenacin, Oxybutynin, Tolterodine, any anticholinergic drugs (Atropine, Belladonna alkaloids, Scopolamine, Benztropine, Trihexyphenidyl), antispasmodic drugs (Clidinium, Dicyclomine), Bisphosphonate drugs (Alendronate, Etidronate, Risedronate), Potassium tablets/capsules or Solifenacin. Check the labels on your other common medications (cough and cold products) because they may contain drowsiness causing ingredients. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about how to use these products safely.

Before using Urispas, tell your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription and nonprescription medications, including herbal products, minerals and vitamins you may be taking. Other medications may affect how Urispas works or may cause other unforeseen complications.

Adverse/Side Effects
It is common that Urispas causes the following minor side effects: dry mouth, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, nervousness, spinning sensation, headache or fever. If these side effects persist or become overly bothersome contact your doctor or health-care professional.

If you experience any of these less common but serious side effects contact you doctor immediately: hot, dry skin and extreme thirst, confusion, pounding heartbeats, fluttering in your chest or urinating less than usual or not at all.

Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of  these unlikely but serious side effects occur: confusion, eye pain, or mental/mood changes.

Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms that may indicate liver damage: severe nausea, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. This may not be a complete list of side effects and may be subject to change, consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you are experiencing any worrisome side effects.
 
Overdose

If you suspect overdose, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose include, hallucination, slow/shallow breathing, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
