Alfacip, alfacalcidolChemical Names
alfacalcidol
Ingredients
Active ingredients: alfacalcidol
Inactive ingredients: sesame oil and a-tocopherol; in the shell: gelatin, glycerol (85%), potassium sorbate and titanium dioxide.
Indications
Buy alfacalcidol to treat osteoporosis, bone loss, hypcalcemia, and osteodystrophy in patients with chronic renal failure.
How It Works
Alfacalcidol is a potent cholecalciferol derivative with a profound positive effect on intestinal absorption of dietary calcium. Calcium plays an important role in bone formation and strengthening.
Dosage
The standard dosage of alfacalcidol is two daily doses of 0.25 mcg, taken orally. Alfacalcidol usage presumes a regular daily intake of calcium (though no more than 500 mg).
The therapeutic margin with alfacalcidol is narrow; the optimal daily dose must be carefully titrated for each individual patient. Consult a doctor before taking alfacalcidol.
Precautions
Consult a doctor before taking alfacalcidol if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, or if you have (or have a history of) hypercalcemia, vitamin D toxicity, digitalis toxicity, kidney problems, or hyperphosphatemia.
Drug Interactions
Consult a doctor before taking alfacalcidol if you are currently taking other vitamin D products, digitalis (digoxin), barbiturates, or anticonvulsants.
Adverse/Side Effects
Primary side effects include pruritis, weakness, headache, red-eyes, somnolence, nausea, cardiac arrhythmia, vomiting, excessive thirst, dry mouth, constipation, muscle pain, bone pain and metallic taste.
