Indications Flomax is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia. This is a swelling of the prostate that is noncancerous, but interrupts the flow of urine through the urethra. How It Works Flomax is a selective receptor agonist. It improves the ability to urinate in men who have swelling in the prostate by relaxing the muscles in the prostate. Dosage Tablets (0.2 mg, 0.4 mg) Dosages are generally prescribed at 0.4 mg per day, however, a physician should assess each patient to make a decision as to the proper dosages. Precautions Flomax is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Flomax. While not intended for women, this medicine will not cause harm to an unborn baby.
