1. What Daivonex Cream Is And What It Is Used For

Daivonex cream belongs to the group of medications called antipsoriatic agents for topical use.
It is a medication indicated for the topical treatment of psoriasis vulgaris.

2. Before You Use Daivonex Cream
Do not use Daivonex Cream
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to calcipotriol or any of the other ingredients of Daivonex cream.
- If you have disorders of calcium levels in the blood.
- If you have serious liver or kidney disease.

Take special care with Daivonex cream (Dovonex, Calcipotriol)

Daivonex cream should not be in contact with the face, mouth and eyes. Hands must be washed after each application.  You should not take more than the maximum recommended dose (see section 3) so as not to cause the level of calcium in your blood to increase.  During treatment with Daivonex cream physicians are recommended to advise patients to limit or avoid excessive exposure to either natural or artificial sunlight.

Taking / Using other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before you take any medication.
If you are pregnant or you are breast feeding do not use Daivonex cream (Dovonex, Calcipotriol) unless your doctor considers it to be necessary.
Do not apply Daivonex cream to the breast area if you are breast feeding.

Driving and using machines
Treatment with Daivonex cream does not have any effect on your ability to drive or use machinery.

3. How To Use Daivonex Cream (Dovonex, Calcipotriol)
Follow carefully all directions given to you by your doctor. If you have any questions ask your doctor or pharmacist for help.
Remember to apply your medication.
Your doctor will indicate the duration of your treatment with Daivonex cream. Do not discontinue treatment before as you may not achieve the desired effects.

Adults:
Daivonex cream should be applied to the affected area twice a day. Application may then be reduced to once daily, provided individual clinical response is satisfactory.
Do not use more than 100 grams of cream in one week. If your doctor has also prescribed Daivonex ointment or cutaneous solution the total maximum dose should not exceed the amount indicated by your doctor. In one week do not use more than 60 ml of Daivonex cutaneous solution plus one 30 gr tube of Daivonex cream or ointment, or 30 ml of Daivonex cutaneous solution plus 60 gr of Daivonex cream or ointment.
Daivonex cream may be used in combination with topical corticosteroids. In such cases, one should be applied in the morning and the other at night.
Apply the cream to the affected area once it is clean. Rub gently into your skin until the cream is completely absorbed. Wash your hands immediately after each application.
 

Children:
Daivonex cream (Dovonex, Calcipotriol) is not recommended for the use in children.

If you have used too much Daivonex cream
If you have applied more Daivonex cream than you should you may experience elevated serum calcium, which rapidly subsides after a couple of days once treatment is discontinued. In such case consult your doctor or pharmacist.

In the case of overdose or accidental ingestion you can also contact your local poison control center and indicate the medication and amount used.

4. Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, Daivonex cream can cause side effects however not all patients experience them.

Daivonex cream may cause some side effects such as:

- Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
Very common (affects at least 1 in 10 people): Skin irritation.
Common (affects at least 1 in 100 but less than 1 in 10 people): skin rash, burning sensation of skin, stinging sensation, dry skin, pruritus (itching), redness of the skin and contact dermatitis (including the face and around the mouth).
Uncommon (at least 1 in 1000 but less than 1 in 100 people): worsening of your psoriasis, eczema.
Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 people): transient changes in skin colour, transient photosensitivity reactions, urticaria, angioedema (wheals), inflammation of the face or around the eyes.

- Metabolism and nutrition disorders:
Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 people): increase in level of calcium in your blood, increase in level of calcium in your urine, usually related to excessive use.

- Immune system disorders:
Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 people): allergic reactions, angioedema (wheals).

If any of the side effects become serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
 

5. How To Store Daivonex Cream (Dovonex, Calcipotriol)
Keep this medication out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not store the product above 25°C.

Do not use Daivonex cream after the expiry date indicated on the pack after Cad. The expiry date is the last day of the month indicated.

Medicines should not be disposed of via water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the boxes and medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

6. Further Information
Composition of Daivonex Cream (Dovonex, Calcipotriol) - The active substance is calcipotriol 50 micrograms per gram (as hydrate). Each 100 grams of cream contains 0,005 gr. calcipotriol (as hydrate).
- The non-active ingredients are: disodium edetate, disodium phosphate dihydrate, liquid paraffin, white vaseline, glycerol 85%, macrogol cetostearyl ether, cetostearyl alcohol, chloroallylhexaminium chloride and purified water.

What the product looks like and contents of the pack
Daivonex cream is a white coloured cream.
Each pack contains a tube of 30 or 100 grams of cream.

All medications must be kept out of the reach and sight of children.
