How It Works Hydroquinone undergoes oxidation under mild conditions to give benzoquinone, which in turn lightens skin. Oxyenzone protects the skin by absorbing UVB and short-wave UVA (ultraviolet) rays. Octinoxate protects the skin by absorbing UVB and short-wave UVA rays. It also reduces the appearance of scars. Dosage Tablets (2% 2.5% 9%) The recommended initial dose of Melalite is to apply to the area affected, rubbing in twice daily, in the morning and before bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Precautions Melalite is contraindicated in people who have hypersensitivity to ingredients in Melalite, as well as in patients with kidney or liver deficiency. Hydroquinone cannot be ruled out as a potential carcinogen. It is found to have increased rates of tumours, including thyroid follicular cell hyperplasias, anisokaryosis, mononuclear cell leukemia, hepatocellular adenomas and renal tubule cell ademonas. Avoid getting Metalite in your eyes and make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after applying cream. This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby.
